| Local Soroptimist clubs in the Golden West Region have club meetings at different times of the day to accommodate the busy schedules of our working women. Yes, we do have male members as well. You must be invited to join a club. | ||||||||||||||
| Fulfillment - Working on projects that improve the lives of others leads to personal satisfaction and recognition from the community. | ||||||||||||||
| Leadership - Developing skills at the club level results in enhanced professional opportunities at all levels of the organization. | ||||||||||||||
| Friendship - Cultivating relationships with other women who have similar interests and values is a central aspect of Soroptimist membership. | ||||||||||||||
| Networking - Associating with other women representing a variety of professions facilitates valuable business contacts. | ||||||||||||||
| Diversity - Meeting an learning about women from different ethnic and cultural backgrounds, and participating in projects that address the needs of women throughout the globe, contributes to world peace and understanding | ||||||||||||||
| We have three types of membership: Regular, Embarking and Retired/Unemployed: | ||||||||||||||
| Regular Member:
Working in a profession or business or in an occupation of
comparable status or responsibilities to those of a person working in a
profession or business. (Here is a chance to "give back" to
your community in a meaningful way.) Retired/Unemployed: Recently retired from or temporarily or permanently out of work from a profession or business or an occupation of comparable status or responsibilities to those of a person working in a profession or business. (Here is and opportunity for you to use all those skills you have learned in your profession to better your community.) Embarking: Embarking on a career in a profession or business or occupation of comparable status or responsibilities to those of a person working in a profession or business. (Just think of the successful and educated women that will be available in a club as mentors for your exciting new career.) |

| Each club decides in which Soroptimist projects and Soroptimist Award Programs its members wish to participate. Many clubs participate in projects in partnerships with other local community service organizations and institutions. | ||||||||||||||
|
Projects, Fund-Raising Events and Soroptimist Award Programs are selected by a vote of the club membership. Although the clubs have a warm and relaxed atmosphere, Robert Rules of Order are observed in voting procedures and club and Region business meetings. Clubs present "Program Meetings" throughout the month. These generally are meetings in which a local speakers inform the club members of what is happening in their communities. Clubs also schedule social activities throughout the year. |

| Club attendance requirements for membership are determined by each club. (Usually there are none.) Club, region and S.I.A. and S.I. dues generally are assessed annually and meal and/or meeting fees are payable on a monthly basis. These fees are usually nominal as this is a service organization. | ||||||||||||||

Your privacy as a members is valued: Roster information is shared only throughout the Soroptimist organization and is not to be used for business or charity promotion by its members. Personal information, names, phone numbers and e-mail addresses of members is guarded by password sections of this web site. (Members Only) |
