     July 2017        NEWS BLAST

Hello wonderful women who always say “yes!

I’ll admit, I’m a little competitive but even I will gladly let Palm Springs claim the hottest temperatures this month!  If only that surrender would reduce the Phoenix temperatures!

Well, since we are all hot – let’s keep it going!  Hot off the presses are all the resources from our 2017 Spring Conference.  On our goldenwestregion.org webpage, click on Meetings/Conferences and then click on 2017 SC Resources.

We have panel videos, summaries, workshop presentations, speech scripts, handouts, results of voting, and many pictures and videos of special events.  If it says “coming soon” – keep checking.  Feel free to use any and all of these resources to share with your members and supporters.

Hot events coming up include our 2017 Leadership Training Retreat which is a great training event to help you plan your own club retreats to develop your 2017-2018 strategic plans.  The LTR is followed by our Fall Meetings held across our region in October. Fall Meeting reinforce our ONE MISSION of improving lives through access to education.  If you can’t attend your event, register for a nearby district meeting.  You are welcome everywhere.

Our hottest resources now available are our 2017 GWR Officer Checklist (a month by month checklist of what tasks should be done along with any deadlines, and our 2017 Leadership Directory (list of other club presidents, region committee members, region & SIA leaders and important events). All our leaders are happy to say “yes” to anything you need. These resources can be found on our website under Club Resources then click on Region Documents

Best wishes for a wonderful 2017-2018 Soroptimist year,
Governor Penny

Membership Committee Exciting News

The GWR Membership Committee has one mission - grow and retain our members! Spring Conference was a great success and brought momentum to two wonderful initiatives: 1) Chartering New Clubs; and 2) Attracting Young Professionals, aka Millennials. Therefore, we have two Task Forces forming around these initiatives and we are always looking for members that would want to serve in these areas. Stay tuned for upcoming news about two new clubs, one at Grand Canyon University in Phoenix and one in Coachella Valley, California that are working to establish a charter. Also, we need a District 1 representative on the GWR Membership Committee. If you are interested in any of these roles please reach out to our Membership Pillar Kimberly LaPrade at kimberlyl.gwr@gmail.com
