Soroptimist International is an international women's organization for
business and professional women who work to improve the lives of
women and girls, in local communities
and throughout the world.

Almost 95,000 Soroptimists in 120 countries and territories contribute time and financial support
to community-based and international projects that benefit women and girls.
There are 3,000 Soroptimist International clubs.

The Golden West Region
serves the geographic area of:
San Bernardino and Riverside Counties of California; Arizona,
except Yuma County, New Mexico and El Paso County in Texas.
There are 58 Clubs  in the Golden West Region.

Soroptimist members belong to local clubs which determine the focus of volunteer work in their communities. Club projects can range from renovating domestic violence shelters and providing mammograms to low-income women, to sponsoring self-esteem workshops for teenage girls.

Soroptimist clubs also offer their members opportunities for friendship with other professional and business women in their communities and leadership training..

2007–2011 Quadrennial Project

Project Sierra
In Partnership with
Hope and Homes for Children

Transforming the lives of deprived women and children in Sierra Leone, West Africa.

What the Project Accomplished:

129 young mothers caring for and providing for their babies independently having completed their education or vocational training.

200 families have been stabilized.
48 former street children reconciled with their families.
 

Project SIerra was a four year partnership between Soroptimist International and
Hope and Homes for Children that transformed the lives of deprived women and children
in Sierra Leone, West Africa.
