As the club year begins to wind down, let's take a few moments to reflect on all that we have collectively accomplished this year ....

Membership
We celebrate the outgoing club Board of Directors and shower them with gratitude for stepping up and taking a leadership role.  Their personal sacrifices have ensured that our clubs have another year of success in impacting the girls and women in our communities.  For the outgoing club Presidents, I hope you take a few moments to relax, but I encourage you to start thinking about a new leadership role at the Region level.  This time next year, we will need leaders like you to bring new ideas and methods to how we operate and serve our members and clubs.  Think on it for a few months 😊 I promise to leave you alone, for now ....

Programs
Clubs have really embraced our Dreams programs and have committed to the “One Mission” philosophy.  Our region has dramatically increased the number of women and girls served in both the Live Your Dream Awards distributed AND the number of Dream it, Be it events.  I don’t want to spoil the Spring Conference presentations, so you’ll have to stay tuned for our year end numbers!  But job well done ladies!

Fund Raising
Of course, we couldn’t have increased our impact to the communities without an increase in fund raising.  Clubs have really embraced creative and new approaches to fund raising.  In addition, our participation in Club Giving, Founder’s Pennies and Laurel Society is astounding.  It’s never easy to fund raise, so I applaud all that you do to support this organization!

Public Awareness
So many of our clubs were recognized this year in local newspapers and radio shows!  That’s a testament to your club level Public Awareness chairs.  I look forward to seeing these efforts written up for the Celebrating Success Awards.  Facebook postings are also up – as demonstrated in the region wide Facebook posting challenge.  The club that had the most “likes” during the challenge will be recognized at Spring Conference.  But, congratulations to all that participated.

As always, I am grateful for your service. I look forward to seeing many of you next week at Spring Conference!

Club Dues Deadline
July 1, 2019

You asked and we responded!  Clubs can now pay their annual REGION dues online!  Our preferred method is to use PayPal to transfer funds from your club bank account to the Region bank account.  This method eliminates any credit card processing fees to either your club, or the Region.  We hope this makes the process easier on your club Treasurers!  Download and follow the instructions here  Pay Dues Online Instructions . Of course, Clubs can still pay the traditional way of completing the invoice and mailing a check to Treasurer Margie.  Download the paper invoice here GWR Annual Club Dues Invoice Worksheet 2019-2020 Writable.

Your club doesn't have a PayPal account?  You should!  By having a PayPal account, and having it designated as a confirmed charity, your club will be able to receive donation payments, and process credit/debit card transactions - all at a discounted rate with no monthly fees! There are other advantages to having a designated charity account with PayPal - so check it out!  PayPal approved Charities

There are some Youtube videos that demonstrate the process for setting up your account.  You will need to have available your 501c(3) determination letter, a recent bank statement, and a list of your club officers.  Contact SIA if you need a copy of your club's 501c(3) determination letter.  Below are a couple of instructional videos to get you started. (Don't laugh, the first video link is from Britain, but it still demonstrates the process clearly)

Keep Calm and Have that Difficult Conversation
Just as in our everyday life, we occasionally need to have a difficult conversion with fellow club members. Before you have such a conversation, it is important to set your emotional intention and tone in order to get the results you want. Find out what you can do to stay calm and present when tackling a sensitive topic HERE

Recruiting Our Friends and Family
Word of mouth recommendations from family and friends are said to be one of the most influential marketing tools. Let’s use this to our advantage! Many Soroptimists across our federation already know this and have shared how they involved their friends and family.
