Inspiring, energetic, motivating, joyful, wonderful, uplifting and Soroptostupendous!  These are all words used to describe our 2019 Spring Conference.  The fun filled, action packed 3 days at Pala Resort was spent celebrating our club achievements, learning new ways to deliver the Dream it, Be it program, and networking with other clubs.  Our region gave out $32,000 in Live Your Dream Awards to 10 finalists and we rolled out the very first DOÑA Endowment award of $1,000 to a random drawing of the finalists.  Your personal and club's generous donations to the fund development dinner will ensure that we can repeat this level of giving into 2020.

We received good and productive responses to the evaluation survey.  The GWR Board will be meeting in August to determine which new ideas we can implement for the 2020 Spring Conference.  We are always striving to create the most meaningful member experience for you!

As you may have experienced by attending the Spring Conference, I always come home from regional or federation meetings with a ton of excitement about the new ideas shared between clubs and regions.  Governor-Elect Laurie and I recently returned from the SIA Governor's round table in Montreal where we shared our experiences and gained new insights from the other governors in our federation.  We have some neat and innovative ideas to improve our regional operations, as well as some ideas to share with clubs.  We will be sharing our new insights at the Leadership Training Retreat and again at Fall Meetings.

So thank you for your support of the region by attending the Spring Conference, Leadership Training Retreat and Fall Meetings.  We made great strides in 2018-2019.  Let's keep the momentum going into 2020!

Soroptimists Celebrating Success Award Program

This annual best practice awards recognize successful club projects that improve the lives of women and girls through programs leading to social and economic empowerment and promote Soroptimist as an organization with that mission.  Categories encompass the four pillars supporting the SIA Strategic Plan: program, membership, fundraising and public awareness.

The deadline to submit an entry to your region chair is September 30 for your club activities from July 1, 2018-June 30, 2019. Regions will select region-level recipients. The first place recipient in each of the pillars will compete for the international federation-level awards. Region recipients will be recognized at region conferences. Federation recipients will be recognized at a federation meeting.
